How I Got Here

Before the covid shutdown, I honestly considered the possibility of exercise not being for me. Maybe I would just diet? I thought that was the way to go. That would be the only option for me really since I didn’t move my body. I have tried going to the gym before and I have never been athletic. I actually really dislike playing sports. I never minded shooting hoops but that’s about it for me. Then the shutdown happened. I would be stuck at home for who knows how long and working full time is when my body was able to move. I couldn’t bear the idea of sitting my butt on the couch this whole time. My one friend mentioned HIIT workouts on YouTube and I thought that was kind of interesting. I never have done a workout video before. I would just use the elliptical or do some crunches. 

I guess even though in the past I had a gym membership I really never got too informed on fitness and moving your body. I was also doing it for the wrong reasons. This time I decided that I wanted to move my body for ME. I was moving my body to MOVE IT and give it the movement it deserves. That mindset changed everything. I remember trying a HIIT workout. I honestly don’t even remember who the girl in the video was. I was super interested in Madfit and her three minute song videos. Then I saw that she had HIIT workouts too. She had all kinds of workouts. 

I began by doing just a 12 minute HIIT workout that she had and then I would go on a walk afterwards. I can’t really tell you when it happened but I fell in love with it. She has such a variety of videos to choose from. I went from focusing on HIIT and ab workouts to eventually purchasing weights to add to the workouts. Then I began strength training which I absolutely fell in love with. Moving your body is definitely a process and you need to find what works for you. The whole thing is a process and you need to trust it. Changes will not happen overnight but as you keep going and moving forward you will see the progress. I started off small and worked my way up.

Now I workout 5 days a week and try my best to contribute some HIIT, strength, abs and legs and booty. I have come to find that your body is way more capable than you think. I never thought I would be where I am today. That is why I want to share this with you guys because you can do it too. I really went from not thinking exercise was for me to it being a HUGE part of my life and falling in love with it.
